FBR ends a 25% tax cut for teachers and researchers.

FBR has started to send notices for recovery of 25% of the remaining tax from the teachers. Recently, FBR ended the 25% exemption of taxes for teachers and researchers, and they only needed to pay 75% of their taxes in the past; however, this is not the case anymore, and now they have to pay 100%. Taxes.

Moreover, the government has approached the IMF to redeem a 25% tax cut for the teachers; however, it is yet to be seen if the IMF will entertain the government of Pakistan's request. The notices that are sent to the teachers and researchers for a 25% recovery of their fees are for the July 2022 recovery, which is 2 years backdated.

Moreover, the reason FBR is asking for a backdated is because, in 2022, the government ended the 25% tax cut for teachers and researchers; however, the government forgot to implement it, and now they are implementing it after 2 years.

It is important to mention that FBR has already been facing a massive shortfall for the past seven months, and it is reported that the IMF might give a tough time to the government due to the massive tax shortfall by FBR.
