Heatwave Starts in Pakistan and the temperature is going to remain high

Many experts suggested that this year's weather is going to be dry, and it was expected that temperatures would remain high (heatwave) this year due to climate change and global warming. It is reported that not only Pakistan but also Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka would face issues of high temperature and heatwave this year due to changes in the weather. It is also expected that in South Asia there will be below-average rain this year, and it was reported that this year snowfall was recorded 23% less than last year.

A strong high-pressure system prevailing in the upper atmosphere is driving the extreme conditions, which are forecast to persist for at least three to four more days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), during the day, the temperature will be 5°C to 7°C above normal in northern and central regions like Islamabad, Punjab, KPK, Azad Kashmir, and GB until 19th May 2025.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) for the southern region, which includes southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, temperatures are likely to stay above normal, like 4°C to 6°C above normal temperature, till the 20th of May 2025.

It is reported that Friday (today) the weather will be changing and heatwave issues will occur, and people will experience very hot and dry weather; therefore, it is better to take SOPs like keeping hydrated and not going out unless it is important. It is important to avoid extreme UV temperature and stay indoors
