What is the Donald Trump hush money case?

Ms. Daniels (adult film star) filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump in Manhattan District Court 2023. She claimed that Trump had sex with her in 2006, and she was paid to stay quiet. She received US $130,000 to keep this a secret, and she said she did so because Donald Trump told her to do it. Moreover, Trump's lawyer claimed that the hush money is legal. However, the issue began when it was found out by the judge that Trump concealed the invoices and election record, and the judge charged Donald Trump on all 34 counts.

The judge stated that Donald Trump gave a false statement and he provided a false business record. Moreover, the judge also said he was charged with false declaration of election law. However, Donald Trump's legal team challenged the verdict in NY higher court, and the appeal went to Judge Juan Merchan, who is an acting justice of the New York Supreme Court.
